About Us: Trans Up Front IL is dedicated to advocating for the rights of transgender and gender non-conforming individuals. Our mission is to create an inclusive and supportive environment where everyone can thrive regardless of their gender identity or expression. We work to raise awareness, provide resources, and ensure equal rights for the transgender and gender non-conforming community. 

Position Overview: We are seeking passionate and motivated volunteers to join our Community Outreach team. As a Volunteer Community Outreach Coordinator, you will be instrumental in helping raise awareness about upcoming protest and educational events to support the transgender and gender non-conforming community. You will engage with local communities, build relationships, and support initiatives that foster inclusivity and understanding. This is an unpaid part time volunteer opportunity with flexible hours.

Key Responsibilities:

• Community Engagement: Establish and maintain positive relationships with local organizations, community leaders, and businesses to foster support for transgender and gender non-conforming rights.

• Networking & Advocacy: Attend local meetings, conferences, and community forums to network and advocate for the rights of transgender and gender non-conforming individuals.

• Support and Empowerment: Provide support to transgender and gender non-conforming individuals through direct outreach, helping them connect to vital resources, services, and support networks.

Qualifications:

• Strong passion for transgender and gender non-conforming rights and social justice.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with diverse groups and individuals.

• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

• Experience and understanding of organizations throughout Illinois that work with the lgbTQia+ community 

• Compassionate, open-minded, and non-judgmental and comfortable engaging with people from diverse backgrounds and experiences.

• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
