Development & Community Partnership Internship

Organization: Trans Up Front Illinois
Location: Chicagoland Area (Hybrid)
Dates: May 15 – August 15, 2026
Hours: 20–25 hours per week, including some evenings and weekends
Compensation: $17/hour
Reports To: Development and Digital Engagement Coordinator

Position Overview
Trans Up Front Illinois is seeking a motivated and community-oriented Development & Community Partnership Intern to support our fundraising efforts, donor engagement, and strategic partnerships. This role is ideal for someone interested in nonprofit development, grassroots organizing, and transgender and gender nonconforming advocacy. This position reports directly to the Development and Digital Engagement Coordinator and will involve both virtual work and in-person engagement, including occasional evening and weekend commitments tied to events and community outreach. The intern will work closely with organizational leadership to strengthen relationships with donors, community partners, and stakeholders while helping expand the organization’s impact across Illinois and beyond.

Key Responsibilities:

-Support fundraising initiatives, including donor outreach, and community partnership events.
-Assist in identifying and building relationships with community partners, sponsors, and aligned organizations
-Assist with planning and coordination of events, including community activations and fundraising efforts (including weekends)
-Conduct research on potential funding opportunities and partnerships
-Support social media and communications efforts related to development and partnerships

Qualifications:
-Passion for advocacy, particularly supporting transgender and gender nonconforming communities
-Strong written and verbal communication skills
-Highly organized with attention to detail
-Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
-Comfortable with outreach and relationship-building
-Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends
-Experience with nonprofit work, fundraising, or community organizing is a plus but not required
-Proficiency in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive) and Canva
