TUF Educators
TUF Educators is a state-wide network of Illinois educators interested in building stronger systems of support and advocacy for transgender youth in the pursuit of safety, dignity, and inclusion.
For many young people, schools are crucial for providing affirming and safe spaces for students to be themselves. In this group, we will provide opportunities for school-based staff (anyone who works with young people) to share expertise, troubleshoot challenges, and strengthen the affirming practices that allow both students and staff to thrive.
Topics include curriculum, school-level advocacy, building local systems of support, and other topics necessary for supporting transgender youth in every school community.
Our mission is to create an Illinois where every transgender young person can thrive, regardless of area code. We do this by equipping educators with curriculum tools, advocacy strategies, and systemic support in the pursuit of the well-being and success of every transgender youth.

Why educators should get involved
Build Community
Join a network of educators and school-based staff from across the state to collaborate and build solidarity in support of transgender youth. As school districts continue to push back against trans-inclusive policies, this network allows more of us the opportunity to show up for each other in defense of our students.
Strengthen Advocacy
Collaborate and share tools and policy knowledge necessary to navigate school leadership and build permanent, systemic supports for transgender youth and staff.
Expand classroom resources
Access, share, and create inclusive curriculum materials that reflect diverse gender identities and foster a sense of belonging for every student.
